Material and function
VMQ silicone is used for temperature-sensitive sealing, electrical insulation and weather-exposed parts. Oil resistance and abrasion performance need attention when selecting the compound for the assembly.

Manufacturing and customization
O-rings are formed and cured from a selected elastomer compound. Dimensions, cross-section, hardness and finishing are selected for the gland, contact medium and assembly.
Design considerations
Select the material grade for contact media, operating temperature and mechanical loading. Include the installed compression, mating surfaces and expected service conditions when reviewing the component. Confirm performance using the selected compound and a representative sample.
