Material and function
HNBR is hydrogenated nitrile rubber used for oil-contact seals with mechanical and heat-aging requirements. The hydrogenation level, hardness and formulation influence the final performance.

Manufacturing and customization
O-rings are formed and cured from a selected elastomer compound. Dimensions, cross-section, hardness and finishing are selected for the gland, contact medium and assembly.
Design considerations
Select the material grade for contact media, operating temperature and mechanical loading. Include the installed compression, mating surfaces and expected service conditions when reviewing the component. Confirm performance using the selected compound and a representative sample.
