Material and function

IXPE is polyethylene foam cross-linked by irradiation. Its fine closed-cell structure is used for cushioning, sealing and insulation. Density, thickness, adhesive backing and the installed compression should be selected together.

Benefits and options

  • Fine closed-cell foam structure
  • Lightweight cushioning and gap filling
  • Density and lamination options

Manufacturing and customization

Extrusion forms a continuous cross-section. Profiles can be cut to length, joined or fitted with attachment features according to the assembly and selected material.

Design considerations

Select the material grade for contact media, operating temperature and mechanical loading. Include the installed compression, mating surfaces and expected service conditions when reviewing the component. Confirm performance using the selected compound and a representative sample.
