Silicone rubber is used for temperature-sensitive sealing, electrical insulation and weather-exposed parts. Its mechanical strength and resistance to many oils are limited compared with several other elastomers; confirm the compound for the media and loading.
Materials can be supplied as tape rolls, strips or converted shapes. Adhesive backing and lamination are selected around the substrate, bond requirement and installation.
Select the material grade for contact media, operating temperature and mechanical loading. Include the installed compression, mating surfaces and expected service conditions when reviewing the component. Confirm performance using the selected compound and a representative sample.
