IXPE foam sealing components
IXPE is irradiated cross-linked polyethylene foam with a fine closed-cell structure. SEAL converts the material into adhesive-backed tapes, strips and shaped gaskets for gap filling, cushioning and sealing.
Forms and converting
- Low-density grades for softer cushioning and conformability.
- Medium- and higher-density grades where greater support is required.
- Adhesive backing and lamination with film or solid support layers.
- Die cutting and other cutting processes for custom profiles.
Applications and limits
Typical uses include automotive trim and battery assemblies, electronic cushions and enclosure seals. The selected density, adhesive, compression and temperature conditions determine performance; polyethylene foam is not selected for hot oil or strong-solvent service.
