Polyurethane foam is used for compliant cushioning, damping and sealing. Polyether, polyester and cell-structure choices serve different environments. Open-cell and closed-cell forms should be selected for the required function.

Manufacturing and customization

Materials can be supplied as tape rolls, strips or converted shapes. Adhesive backing and lamination are selected around the substrate, bond requirement and installation.

Design considerations

Select the material grade for contact media, operating temperature and mechanical loading. Include the installed compression, mating surfaces and expected service conditions when reviewing the component. Confirm performance using the selected compound and a representative sample.
