Nitrile rubber is used where contact with mineral oils, lubricants or fuels guides the selection. Acrylonitrile content affects oil resistance and low-temperature flexibility, so the compound should be selected for the operating conditions.
Rubber is compounded, formed in a mold and cured into three-dimensional parts. Select the material, tooling and finishing around the required geometry and production volume.
Select the material grade for contact media, operating temperature and mechanical loading. Include the installed compression, mating surfaces and expected service conditions when reviewing the component. Confirm performance using the selected compound and a representative sample.
