XPE is a chemically cross-linked polyethylene foam used for cushioning, protection and gap filling. The closed-cell structure and material density influence compression and recovery in the installed part.
Sheet stock can be cut into seals, cushions and protective components. Thickness, hardness or density, backing layers and the cutting route are selected around the final part.
Select the material grade for contact media, operating temperature and mechanical loading. Include the installed compression, mating surfaces and expected service conditions when reviewing the component. Confirm performance using the selected compound and a representative sample.
