Material and function
Melamine foam has an open-cell structure used for sound absorption and thermal insulation. It can be shaped and laminated for mounting and protection. Confirm the required environmental and fire performance for the chosen grade.

Manufacturing and customization
Sheet stock can be cut into seals, cushions and protective components. Thickness, hardness or density, backing layers and the cutting route are selected around the final part.
Design considerations
Select the material grade for contact media, operating temperature and mechanical loading. Include the installed compression, mating surfaces and expected service conditions when reviewing the component. Confirm performance using the selected compound and a representative sample.
